Workshop Coffee (Marylebone)
1 Barrett Street, Marylebone, W1U 1AX
Editor's Review
Workshop Marylebone has moved 150 metres into a larger premise in St Christopher’s Place, tucked just off Oxford Street. Along with their loyal customers from their previous location on Wigmore Street, they’ve brought their team and the beautiful powder blue Synesso with matching cups.
The new space has, somewhat fittingly, a workshop type feel - a departure from Workshop’s other cafes. The focus in on the espresso machine. It sits elegantly atop a zinc bar mounted on chipboard which is as fascinating to explore in its wooden fragments as it is unexpected. A Fetco batch brewer is added to the line-up and the coffee here is first rate, whether espresso or filter via batch brew or AeroPress.
The aforementioned locals, regulars and staff help create a warm, friendly atmosphere and the long benches encourage socialising. There are lots of features that catch the eye: for example, the orange cushions, the wall carving and the embossed Workshop Coffee Co logo on the Synesso. A large glass cabinet displays food and we all know the Kouign Amann at Workshop is the perfect espresso accompaniment.
