This café is worth a visit for the design alone. For their second location, owner Huw gave Brighton based Chalk Architecture a design brief to create a bright, Scandinavian feel and this is hugely successful. The interior is in great contrast to the typical London industrial coffeeshop theme and it all makes for a space that is a pure pleasure to relax in. Large windows let in tremendous light while also functioning to make the café more accessible to passers-by. The cafe is a visual delight in this warehouse dominated neighbourhood. So much thought has gone into the design, including clever details such as cool white walls and patterns in the ceiling reflected in the tables.

 

As in their Bounds Green café, Urban Baristas is a friendly café that is focussed on quality coffee from Union and guests such as Dark Arts and Butterworth. There is a delicious red velvet drink using cold-pressed beetroot and a wide range of alternative drinks and dairy alternatives. Batch and v60 filters are available alongside espresso based drinks. Brunch options include smashed avocado, salads and toasties. You’ll find a good cross section of the Wapping populace enjoying this space as the coffeeshop has achieved a welcoming accessible atmosphere while simultaneously emphasising quality.
