Upshot Espresso is based in the heart of University life in Sheffield, just a short walk away from the University of Sheffield Student Union and a number of their campus buildings. The café itself is an interesting throwback to the area’s connection with student life and local independent traders on Glossop Road. Despite the ultra-modern and shiny building that is the Student Union, Upshot Espresso stays true to the roots of rustic charm that is a real feature in one of the city’s most well-known areas.

Simple in its design, the café also radiates a real homely feel, with small details including tucked away sofas and simple mugs, giving the air of non-pretention venue on Glossop Road. The usual spins on brunch classics are available on their food menu, but their ace card is the cake and pastry selection. Banana Bread, ‘Cookie Sandwiches’, seasonal friands are all on offer alongside Upshot Espresso’s signature daily in house baked cinnamon rolls.
