Timeless Coffee may be the sneakiest shop you're likely to visit, even though this popular Oakland spot has the feel of a spiffier college town café. A display of gorgeous, colorful pastries beams as you walk in the door and a stunning custom Kees van der Westen espresso machine sits just to the side.

The shop is spacious and could easily be your all-day spot to go into a sugar and coffee coma. It's only when you order a milk drink at the counter that the full picture becomes clear. Timeless offers only plant-based milks and, indeed, their entire menu is vegan. Timeless, in this sense, seems a bit of a misnomer, but the offerings here are beautifully presented and good enough to deem the shop a very pleasant curiosity. It's only appropriate in this setting to grab a cappuccino with very trendy oat milk and pair with any one of those delightful technicolor donuts.
