The Handle Bar Cafe and Kitchen
28-32 St Michael's St, Oxford OX1 2EB, UK
Editor's Review
The Handle Bar certainly gets our approval for the best decorated venue in Oxford, if you're comfortable with bikes hanging from the ceiling. The café restaurant is situated upstairs from a bike workshop, and benefits from the high ceilings and wide windows of a former craft venue – but the main lure is a lovely mix of excellent food, good coffee, and relaxed surroundings.
The Handle Bar is certainly more restaurant than café, but the coffee, which comes from local roasters The Missing Bean, certainly holds its own in august culinary company. There's a lovely, vibrant feeling to the place too, and it deserves its popularity. While you might not come purely for the coffee, it's really welcome to find a restaurant that takes its speciality coffee seriously. Brunch is served from 8am, lunch from noon to 2.30pm everyday, and supper is from 5.30pm to 9.30pm on Wednesdays to Saturdays.
