The Coffee Academics
35-45 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Editor's Review
Established in 2010, The Coffee Academics (“TCA”) studio was founded in Causeway Bay Hong Kong as a training and ideas space for coffee lovers. Living up to its name, TCA does not only brew specialty coffees in their cafes, but also creates an active coffee culture through a good blend of coffee workshops for both beginners and professionals alike.
This particular branch of TCA is located in Wan Chai, which was made internationally famous by the 1960s film – the World of Suzie Wong. Many iconic attractions and landmarks are all within walking distance such as Blue House, Tai Yuen Street Market (Toy Street) as well as Hong Kong Covention and Exhibition Centre.
This TCA branch makes a good people-watching cafe. Deliberate efforts to line glass panels along the entire front entrance, coupled with the outdoor seating, allows for coffee aficionados to enjoy their drink while watching the world go by. Our pick is their signature Espresso-based coffee, Jawa, a Latte Macchiato with gula jawa from Indonesia exuding a hint of coconut and pandan.
