Sweetleaf — Long Island City
10-93 Jackson Ave., Long Island City, NY 11101
Editor's Review
Sweetleaf has expanded in recent years, from a neighborhood spot, based here, at the foot of the Pulaski Bridge, connecting Long Island City Queens to Greenpoint Brooklyn, into a coffee roaster and destination café. They have other cafes across Brooklyn and Queens now, but Jackson Avenue is still the iconic location, and while it’s a low-key, homey vibe, Sweetleaf is an essential stop in LIC.
They make espresso drinks and have a number of pour over options, as well as filter coffee, and they bake their own pastries as well. And the design here, using reclaimed wood and a lot of comfortable antique furniture, makes for a very welcoming space, with lots of quiet nooks, including a “laptop room,” and a “vinyl room,” which features a turntable and a stack of records, so you can usually find a good spot to work, to read, to chat, or just to enjoy your coffee.
