St Ali Coffee Roasters
12-18 Yarra Pl, South Melbourne VIC 3205, Australia
Editor's Review
One of the pioneer’s in speciality coffee in Australia, the St Ali family arm has an incredibly long reach and boasts many reputable offshoots co-existing under its umbrella, such as Sensory Lab and Clement. All represent the same level of quality associated with the brand, and here, in a warehouse down an alleyway just off South Melbourne’s Clarendon Street, is where it all started.
It’s not unusual to find latte art or barista champions cooking up your coffee in a venue with great atmosphere. Such is the quality of the barista found here, there is no compromise on the quality nor are you waiting an eternity for your coffee, despite the volume of other customers. There’s a constantly good range of beans for your selection, with a rotating selection of single origin for espresso and filters and a sweet blend for the milky drinks. And you can try each one: order the Barista Breakfast and you get an espresso, milky drink and a filter.
It’s definitely a way to fill your caffeine fix and experience the difference in mouthfeel and flavours across the board. There’s also an impressive breakfast and seasonal lunch menu to help balance the caffeine, should you want to. Outdoor seating is limited but available in a courtyard.
