Sam James Coffee Bar - Chinatown
241 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 3A8, Canada
Editor's Review
Street culture and Sam James have always been synonymous in Toronto. The influence is clear in their design and the vibe they create at each location goes hand in hand with fashion and lifestyle. So it was no surprise when a relationship formed between Sam James and clothing brand Stussy and even less so that the collaboration has been extremely successful. Their first collaboration was located at the corner of Queen and Ossington, but when forced to move they landed at this current location on Spadina Ave in Chinatown.
Unlike the previous venue, where Sam James had a separate entranceway than Stussy, this time the entire space is connected. The coffee bar is immediately inside the front doors, which allows customers of both brands to interact and for the shopping experience to be a more pleasant one with a delicious coffee in hand. The focus on design of the two companies is obvious as well with the white, grey metal and cement keeping the visual thread consistent through the shop. A metal mesh cage comprises the bar and houses two Mazzer grinders, a La Marzocco Linea PB and Sam James’s coffee brand Cut Coffee.
Being just north of Queen St W and just south of Kensington market means that this café and clothing store is a perfect coffee break on your next shopping trip through the city.
