Propeller Coffee Co.
50 Wade Ave, Toronto, ON M6H 2Z3, Canada
Editor's Review
As you walk down Wade Avenue, trusting the directions from your GPS, for a split second you may think you’ve made a wrong turn. But fear not, placed amongst those run-down warehouses, repair shops and empty lots, Propeller Coffee Co has beautifully restored one of the decaying structures to become a shining beacon for this battered city block.
A location that may have been a gamble back in 2014 when the shop first opened has turned out to be a perfect space for their operation. An enormous café area at the front entrance is a wonderful setting to enjoy the wide array of coffee options available. Behind the bar, a massive chalk propeller drawn by the wife of co-owner Losel Tethong spreads the width of the bar and has become a recognisable symbol of the shop. The size of the café also allows for the room to easily convert into an event space, where Propeller has hosted many events over the years such as barista competitions and latte art throw-downs. The other half of the facility is the warehouse, where they have temperature controlled green bean storage, office space, a cupping and training room and their roasting space housing a 35kg Loring Kestrel.
