From its beginnings as a teensy-weensy espresso bar secretly stuck into the back of a barber shop in Williamsburg, today Parlor Coffee is a burgeoning Brooklyn roastery whose distinctive beans are available at numerous great cafes, restaurants, and markets throughout the city and beyond.

This spacious spot adjacent to Navy Yard is the company's working roastery, and while they pull you an espresso at the bar of their small tasting area, you will likely be sitting next to a few pallets of green beans coming in or fresh roasted beans on the way out, and if you look into the back, you will get to check out the real work happening daily here. It's a great experience for real enthusiasts, and these folks are always happy to fill you in on the details of their work. They also carry a full line of their whole beans, as well as various brew equipment and gear. Not much to consume here beyond great espresso drinks, but the atmosphere—and the coffee—is well worth a visit.
