North Tea Power
36 Tib St, Manchester M4 1LA, UK
Editor's Review
North Tea Power is a homely, welcoming café in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Accessed via a set of steps up from the corner of Tib Street, and in an arcade with a few interesting shops, NTP has been a staple of Manchester's coffee scene from the outset. Coffee is served from Square Mile via espresso-based drinks and a variety of filter options using a Slayer-made rew bar; the machine is also from the USA supplier. The café itself is a steel beams and wood mélange with plenty of seating, including a raised table with bar stools towards the back, and a few outdoor tables in the arcade area.
Food options include sandwiches, muffins, and sweet stuff. There's a wide range of brewing kit available too, as well as beans from Square Mile and others. There's also a whopping array of loose-leaf teas and some craft beers for those who prefer their beverages other than coffee. Serving quality coffee, and brilliantly located for exploring the hip Northern Quarter, NTP should be towards the top of anyone's Manchester coffee list.
