Mia coffee shop

Plaza de los Mártires Ciriaco y Paula, 4, 29008 Málaga, Spain

Editor's Review

For a large city, Malaga is short on good coffee. However the couple behind Mia Coffee Shop have been blazing a trail with their tiny cafe for several years, serving up Barcelona’s excellent Nomad coffee at a price that appeals as much to locals new to speciality coffee as it will to seasoned tourists.

Set on a small square in the pedestrianised heart of the city, Mia serves coffee from a takeaway hatch or to sit and enjoy outside at a couple of tables that are hit by the sun from opening time. Inside, Mia has a cosy homemade feel, with a few high tables and stools or perching space at the counter where a selection of pastries and cakes await.

With a range of hot and cold teas and coffees to choose from, my flat white was expertly prepared with notes of red fruit and chocolate. The milk was perfectly textured and poured, with the care in presentation extending to serving each coffee on a wooden board.
