Lune Croissanterie
119 Rose St, Fitzroy VIC 3065, Australia
Editor's Review
If you see a line hugging and curving buildings along Fitzroy’s art-covered streets in the early mornings, what you’re witnessing is the astute patience of people queuing to get their hands on a fine selection of award winning pastries.
As you indulge in whichever of the crisp, golden pastry, or two, take you fancy, there's also the option of some Small Batch coffee. The great thing is amount of free reign the baristas and heads of coffee get to develop and present a range of options comparably worthy of their pastry counterparts and rightly so, being experts in their own field. Pastries are the main attraction, but it’s one of the better compliments as the two oft go hand in hand.
Switching up between Candyman and Golden Ticket for milky’s, leaning more towards to Golden Ticket for its sweetness and piercing flavours through milk. A rotating guest single origin looks to bring some international roasters on board switching it up as often as needed. This, too, applies to the rotating range of filters. Whatever tastes great, you will get, and it always does.
The venue itself is a massive, exposed-brick warehouse, with two counters, one for pastries and the other for coffee, which are split at the forefront guarding an impressive glass cube, housing specialist chefs at work under millennial warp-speed neon lights. There is seating by the side of this cube usually reserved for those of the Lune Lab experience (check website).
