Louie Craft Coffee
1187 King St W, Toronto, ON M6K 3C5, Canada
Editor's Review
The Toronto Carpet Factory, in a corner of Liberty Village, is a beautiful piece of historical architecture in an area now mostly comprising new condo buildings. Now that the factory has been converted into an office complex, area workers were thrilled when Louie Craft Coffee decided to move in. Named after the dog of one of the owners, Louie is serving delicious coffee roasted by Social Coffee Co., a roastery located just north of Toronto in Richmond Hill.
The front door to the café is a beautifully unassuming wooden door set against the dark brick of the old factory. “Louie” is printed proudly in the window with a sign above it that gets straight to the point: “This is a COFFEE SHOP”. Inside, a La Marzocco Strada sits atop the bar in the long, thin room. Bench seating resembling a church pew stretches from front to back along a set of windows facing an office hallway and each windowsill is filled with used books for sale. Sandwiches, salads, and pastries are available, but for an extremely healthy alternative Louie also offers vegan and gluten free breakfast and snack jars from local company Freedom Jars.
