Editor's Review
Look Mum No Hands have combined café, bar and cycling in Old Street since 2010. Since then, there have been temporary ventures in Mare Street, the South Bank and inside Brixton Cycles. Now, Look Mum have opened a food centred space in the area South of Commercial Street, East of Leman Street, just North of Wilton’s Music Hall. It’s the site Dose Espresso previously tried to make a go of.
LMNH kitchen is so called because they don't fix bikes here or show the racing. They tell me that if they occasionally spray GT 85 in the air, it’s for their own comfort. Here they focus on great food and drink alongside Square Mile coffee and good local beer from the likes of Kernel, Redchurch & Howling hops.
There’s a proper kitchen with a range of wonderful brunch options such as a Black Pudding Breakfast or Blueberry American Pancakes with strawberries, cream and maple syrup. Mains include a 42 day aged beef burger with blue cheese, spinach, red onion, aioli and triple cooked chips, and a vermouth moules marniere.
Notable producers and suppliers include Brindisa, Deli Station, Lambton & Jackson (Smoked Salmon), Estate Dairy and bread from Chris Hruskova at wondeful Bread Station in London Fields. Customers are welcoem to bring bikes inside as they are still working on cycle parking.
