La Colombe
400 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10003, USA
Editor's Review
They were founded in the Philadelphia area, but the La Colombe coffee company now has cafes across the east coast, as well as in Chicago and Los Angeles, and you can find their beans in numerous other shops, restaurants and cafes across the country as well. They are known for a strong, dark roast, for both their espresso and drip options, and also make a popular cold brew, sold in cans and bottles, as well as on tap.
This great corner location is a high-ceilinged, light-filled spot that always seems to have a line, but still it’s not impossible to find a small table or stool amidst the beautiful downtown crowd who hang out here. The location is close to New York University, as well as several music and technology offices, plus a couple of trendy health clubs, so you can always expect a scene. They sell a small selection of pastries and cookies, and feature one simply delightful treat, free for all takers, a water bar in the back that dispenses both room temperature and refrigerated flat water and a spigot of bubbly too!
