Kinship Coffee
32-14 Steinway St, Long Island City, NY 11103, USA
Editor's Review
Kinship boosted Astoria into the modern age of coffee with its original spot – Kinship Coffee Cooperative – on Steinway at 30th Street, and this newer café, a few blocks up near the trains on Broadway, has cemented their place in the neighborhood. Where the "Cooperative" cafe is a bit more of a grab and go spot, this is a full-service café, with lots of seating and an expanded menu, including sandwiches and other simple breakfast and lunch options, to go with the pastries; as with the original location, the baked goods are homemade, except for Balthazar croissants.
Kinship is a multi-roaster, and they like to feature all of the best roasts from around country, so while you never know quite what to expect when you stop by for an espresso, you do know it will be of top quality. They also have a broad selection of whole beans, and a cold case of fancy soft drinks and kombucha. Plans are to have a full line of beer and wine by late 2017.
