Kinship Coffee Cooperative
30-5 Steinway St, Astoria, NY 11103
Editor's Review
Kinship is one of the original Third Wave cafés in Astoria, finally providing a solid place for fans of modern brew culture to congregate. This well-loved local multi-roaster welcomes all, though we are not sure in what sense it is actually a cooperative.
On a recent visit, they were brewing various beans from Stumptown, Heart, and Passenger roasters – selling whole beans as well – and the room had several patrons sitting with laptops in the front window, as well as a steady stream grabbing lattes and pour-over coffee to go. There can be a rush as locals head to the trains in the morning, but generally the pace is fairly mellow, the service is good, and if it was not for the bigger shop Kinship a few blocks up Steinway by Broadway, this place would most definitely be the best coffee in Astoria! The Cooperative stocks homemade pastries (plus Balthazar croissants), while their sister shop has a full sandwich menu… and bathrooms!
