A veteran of the New York coffee scene, Irving Farm Coffee Roasters has been around since the '90s, and this cafe (although moved up the street since its inception) is their original Manhattan cafe. With a small set of stores throughout the city, Irving Farm has an ability to maintain a unified, modern rustic chic look across diverse neighborhoods – yet each fits into its particular community, borrowing elements of its neighboring streets to fit in with the community.

A mere block away from Union Square, this spot is a subterranean escape from the foot traffic of upscale Irving Place, a comfortable mix of warm lighting and even warmer company. Expect worn-in woods, low ceilings, and brownstone, which give this cafe a homey feel, perfect for unwinding with a cup of coffee and a chat with the people around you, since many tables stand nearly pressed up against one another. You're likely to make a friend or two in this atmosphere! Enjoy house-roasted coffees from the company's Dutchess County roastery, along with a full menu of hot, made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and baked goods from local providers.
