Homecoming
107 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222
Editor's Review
These days it can be hard to tell a cafe from a flower shop from a complete lifestyle store, but luckily for you, Homecoming manages to combine all three. A small-scale coffee counter greets you with essences of Califonia, from jars of jam courtesy of L.A. brunch purveyors Sqirl to coffee from Santa Cruz roaster Verve.
While seating may be limited to the few benches lining the windows, you can still grab a cappucino and browse through the varied selection of succulents, plants and contemporary gifts that decorate the majority of the shop, contemplating whether a $90 impulse ceramic purchase is just a bridge too far to start the morning with. Perhaps sitting underneath the suspended rows of hanging ivy and potted plants induces just the right amount of tranquility. While Homecoming may dish out the regular trusted coffee items, highlights include sweet beverages like the golden latte, New Orleans style cold brew, and a Cacao Prieto spiced chocolate. Non-dairy options include almond and soy, and the Dough Doughnuts/Colson repertoire and selection of Bellocq teas round out your opportunities here.
