Gregorys Coffee — Herald Square
874 Sixth Avenue, New York, NY 10001
Editor's Review
Gregorys Coffee is the shop that every New Yorker likely recognizes for its trademark logo, a clever graphic treatment of founder Gregory Zamfotis' trademark fabulous hair and thick specs – look closer, and you'll see they're really two coffee mugs. This outpost of the curiously independent-but-looks-like-a-Starbucks chain Gregorys is right down the street from Herald Square, a coffee refuge in the haze of massive retailers and Korean restaurants nearby. The tasteful blend of rustic woods, trendy lighting fixtures and indoor plants serves as a welcoming contrast to its exteriors, and wallpapers featuring old school newspapers of the 19th century add a modern-retro touch.
Like all the locations, its trusty menu features AeroPress and drip, plus classic espresso beverages and wellness specialties like special "mylks" chockfull of antioxidants like raw cacao and turmeric and protein smoothies. Carb-tastic pairings include housemade pastries and refrigerated chia puddings and yogurts.
