Gregorys Coffee — 878 Lexington
878 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10065, USA
Editor's Review
Founded in 2006 by Gregory Zamfotis, the Gregorys Coffee chain has been storming Manhattan (and Brooklyn, and Jersey City, and now DC) for several years, and there are currently more than two dozen locations in the NYC area.
Though there's a consistency among these shops not just in offerings, but decor, every now and then you find a Gregorys that surprises you, like this particularly spacious one on the Upper East Side. Cruise past the bar to a large back room with plenty of seating (and bathroom facilities!) and settle in with your AeroPress brew, tea from Chicago's Kilogram, and a treat of your choice. Not feeling sweet? There's a toast menu here with both sweet and savory toppings, and maybe that midday jamon slice is just what you're looking for. This Gregorys stands as a comforting oasis on a busy, but not-always-independent-feeling stretch of Lexington – where locals would do well to make it just that, their local.
