El Fant - Coffee & Wine Bar
Katrinegatan 3, 00101 Helsingfors, Finland
Editor's Review
Hidden between Senaatintori (senate square) and Kauppatori (market square) in Helsinki’s Tori Quarters – the historical centre of the city – is El Fant Coffee and Wine. The café shares an entrance to the Helsinki city museum – a free museum documenting everyday life and personal experiences in Helsinki.
Visitors are met by a beautiful bouquet of baked goods, all prepared in-house. On one side, a tall, dark, wine cooler – the tinted window adding a hint of mystique to the treasures it keeps – on the other, a La Marzocco Linea PB – immaculately polished and poised to deliver some tasty espresso. The coffee is roasted locally by Good Life Coffee, but occasionally a guest roast is available for hand brew by kalita.
The interior is divided into three rooms, each with original, large, period windows, balancing a sense of space with the feeling of intimacy. Outside is a summer terrace, perfect for sipping a natural chardonnay or cold brew coffee on a long Finnish summer afternoon.
