De Mello Palheta Coffee Roasters
2489 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4P 2H6, Canada
Editor's Review
Maybe the city’s best North Toronto coffee shop, De Mello has been serving their staple blends and delicious single origins since 2013. Their growth has been steady after first roasting solely for the café on a 2.5kg Diedrich and then progressing to a 12kg unit in 2015 and in response to demand, just this year graduating to a monster 70kg machine.
The café is located near Yonge and Eglington in a popular shopping area. Their space is a welcome reprieve from the busy neighborhood otherwise filled mostly with big coffee chains. The footprint and layout provides a welcoming space to enjoy one of the cities best roasteries. Upon entering the artistically inspired shop, you are greeted by a ceiling full of umbrellas that leads down a thin hallway towards the three group head Synesso Cyncra and retail wall stocked with their rotating selection of coffee. A home brewers dream, De Mello currently offers a lineup of four blends and eleven single origin coffees to choose from. No matter what your brew method, you certainly won’t be found wanting. And with the homemade pastries providing a wonderful compliment to the coffee, De Mello is the best reason to visit the northern portion of the city.
