Dark Horse Espresso Bar
120 Geary Ave, Toronto, ON M6H 4H1, Canada
Editor's Review
On a small industrial street that is quickly becoming a favourite destination for Torontonians, with the likes of Blood Brothers Brewing and The Greater Good, Dark Horse made a home for its baking operations and a small café. A garage door allows natural light into the space and helps expand the small footprint in the summertime. The design resembles a barn or log cabin with its bare wooden paneling, but it is through the picture-frame windows that you see where the real magic happens.
Separated from the café space, this is the bakery that supplies the bread and baked goods for all of Dark Horse’s locations. The smell is incredible and wafts through the entire place. Although the coffee shop space is comparatively smaller and mostly geared towards takeaway, one of the major advantages of this location over their others is the extended food offering. Since the bread is made fresh here, on baking days they are able to offer mouthwatering thin crust pizza. And beyond the sandwiches and salads that are available every day, there is often a selection of savoury pies as well.
