Coutume/Les Ateliers
8 Rue Martel, 75010 Paris, France
Editor's Review
Coutume, the famous Parisian roasters, take their coffee very seriously. Here, in the Rue Martel, they roast and you can watch the process from behind a glass divide while buying the fruits of this process at the boutique Coutume/Les Ateliers (translated as 'workshop' in English).
This venue is all about the coffee – there is nowhere to sit, no other amenities, and they don't use milk in their drinks (if you want that, head to the other Coutume in the Rue de Babylone). Here, though, you can experience sublime espresso and filter options, three varities sourced from the same country of origin – coffee in its purest form. The baristas here are genuine craftspeople and for coffee lovers, it's an experience not to be missed. When the brew is this good, it doesn't matter that there are no bells or whistles.
