Coutume Café
47 Rue de Babylone, 75007 Paris, France
Editor's Review
Coutume have been in the Rue de Babylone since 2011, pioneers in the speciality coffee movement in Paris and now roasters of genuine distinction. This wonderful, chemistry-inspired space is a testament to their inventiveness and an apt home for coffees of great quality. There's plenty of room and the venue is engaging and cosy. Filters come in a range of options, including V60 and Chemex, while espresso-based drinks are available using milk, unlike the other Coutume location, Les Ateliers.
There is also a brunch and lunch service (the kitchen is open from 9am and closes at 3pm on weekdays and 3.45pm on weekends) with a seasonally varying menu. Computers are not allowed, by the way – this is a place to bring a good book, or enjoy a lovely, lively weekend brunch, not get your work done. But you'll enjoy the experience all the more for that.
