Cafe Tamra
63 Northcote Rd, Clapham, London SW11 1NP, UK
Editor's Review
Often considered a ‘London Village’ even though it’s just one street, Northcote Road is a haven for the yummy mummy; pram in one hand, yoga mat in the other, and a dog at the heels. Smack-bang in the middle of this road, Café Tamra thus panders to the foot-traffic of the local area, with baby-changing facilities, family-friendly bright décor, and a cartoon chihuahua as its mascot (yes, it’s pet-friendly).
The impressive brunch/lunch menu is inspired by the Mediterranean – Breakfast Quesadilla, Shakshouka, Full Lebanese Breakfast – with some British classics for the less adventurous among us. Just try resisting the Pancake Stack. Even though they close at 5pm every day, they have an alcohol license, so adding a tipping of Baileys to your Nude Espresso coffee won’t be frowned upon too much – in fact, it’s encouraged, and so are their ‘Breakfast Cocktails’. It gets fairly busy in the week, and particularly at weekends during brunch-time, but the undercover outdoor area offers more room (blankets and sheepskin-lined chairs are provided, don’t worry) and allows for a prime spot for people-watching up and down the road.
