Café 164
Munro House, Duke St, Leeds LS9 8AG, UK
Editor's Review
Café 164 is a coffee shop and gallery space within walking distance of Leeds Bus Station and the central shopping areas, but still slightly off the beaten track. It's wonderfull spacious, with plenty of tables, high ceilings, and white walls sporting various artworks from mostly local artists – there are also often exhibitions in the adjoining space.
Coffee comes from Dark Woods, while North Star also supplies options. Hot breakfast is available until 11.30 weekdays and 1.00 on Saturdays, including Croque Madames and porridge – otherwise sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries – with bread coming from Leeds' legendary bakers Bakery 164 (yes, it's the same company). Toilets are in the building but not the cafe and the building is worth an explore – there's a superb design and gift shop off the same foyer and various other things of interest.
