Brookside Market brings top-shelf coffee to Sunnyside, with this great little café and sandwich bar sitting right on Queens Boulevard. Owned by one of the principals at Ida’s Nearabout, the cute bar sitting just next door, Brookside is a great addition to this area, with a range of coffee drinks made from Stumptown beans, a selection of pastries and breads from Amy’s (whose bakery is also in the neighborhood) and a fresh juice, smoothie, and sandwich menu as well. Check out the pulled pork or meatball sandwiches, or a number of vegetarian options and egg sandwiches, including “Hardy’s Favorite,” a great combination with spinach, feta, eggs, and Sriracha.

They also have a small but well-thought-out grocery selection to go with the whole beans, giving Brookside the vibe of a small town country store. For a true oasis on this busy street, take your food and coffee into the large and lovely backyard, with ample seating.
