Baba Budan
Arch 12, 17 East Market Street, Edinburgh EH8 8FS, UK
Editor's Review
If you leave Waverley Station on the north side you end up a little bewildered. On the other side it’s easy—you’re right on Princes Street, you’re in amongst it! On the other side it feels like you’re sunk down somewhere. Never fear. Take a left, walk a few minutes, and you’ll get to Baba Budan.
Set up in 2016, and named after the 17th century Sufi said to have introduced the world to coffee, Baba Budan is paying a good tribute. They’ve worked with roasters like Dark Arts, Square Mile, The Coffee Collective and The Barn, and also often host classes to allow people to find out more about the art of coffee.
It’s not all about coffee at this place though. In fact, it’s donuts they’re equally famous for. Brilliant flavours like salted caramel, chai, and whisky cream, it seems foolish not to visit without trying one of their generously stuffed delights. Even better is when you watch the trays getting brought in, a seemingly never-ending conveyorbelt of donut goodness. Praise be!
