Arvo Coffee
17 Gristmill Lane, Toronto, ON M5A 3C4, Canada
Editor's Review
The influence of this Distillery District café is clear to anyone who notices the reference in their name. “Arvo” being slang for afternoon in Australia, owner Justin Carriere was inspired by his time spent living in the country and learning about the intricacies of their coffee culture. Bringing these elements of quality, service, and innovation to Toronto were key ingredients to the creation of Arvo.
The Distillery is already one of the most beautiful areas of Toronto, so when business owners move in, they already have an incredible canvas to work with. 200-year-old exposed brick makes up the outer shell of the space at Arvo and a starting point for the design aesthetics that they brought in. A dark wooden bar with marble countertop dominates the room and beautifully displays their food offerings, pour over bar and customized La Marzocco Strada. Small touches are found everywhere like the lovely ceramic mugs, wrought iron stools and bold light fixtures. Arvo goes beyond just fitting in to the neighbourhood; they have made it even better.
