Abbotsford Road is a fast-growing roaster and distributor, with origins in Australia, but formed and based in Brooklyn. Their real business is supplying cafes and restaurants with high quality, sustainably sourced and locally roasted beans. But when they designed their Brooklyn roasting facility on the edge of the Gowanus neighborhood, they included a lovely café space to showcase their products and connect with the community.

Abbotsford focuses on blends, and their espresso and drip coffee options are well rounded and flavorful. You can sample numerous espresso, pour-over and drip options at the café, as well as their excusive tea and hot chocolate products. They also carry a nice selection of Colson pastries, Four and Twenty Blackbirds pies, both sweet and savory options, and they make a selection of sandwich toasties to order. The room is large and light-filled, with ample table space and WiFi, and it’s a nice quiet spot to relax over a great coffee. And if you are the type of person who really gets excited about coffee culture, you can stroll to the back of the high-ceilinged former warehouse space and gaze at their massive roaster at work, as well as purchase any of their blends in bulk, or pre-bagged, from the café staff.
