White Mulberries
D3 Ivory House St Katharine Docks E1W 1AT
Editor's Review
Good water is known to bring out special qualities in coffee. Waterside café White Mulberries is known for its great coffee but also for its warm hospitality. Stepping inside, customers become honoured guests of Peyman and Rana. The tranquil, maritime setting makes a visit a unique experience. Coffeewise, they rotate roasters such as Nude, Workshop, Allpress, Koppi and Barn and indeed are one of the few London cafes to regularly feature Koppi coffee. There is always a choice of espressos and filter options include AeroPress and v60.
White Mulberries’ sandwiches are some of the best in London – look out for some special Persian recipes, and there is always a great range of baked goods alongside quality teas and hot chocolate. While enjoying the food and drink, one is drawn to the attractive use of artwork: White Mulberries support the Coffee Art Project and feature art from Australian born London barista/artist Tim Shaw including a huge mural on the bar.
What London café has yachts and sailboats moored outside? St Katharine, once a busy commercial docks, now has a relaxed regatta atmosphere: a marina where city dwellers can unwind. By contributing to the St Katharine Docks vibe , White Mulberries has added considerably to the Tower Bridge experience.
