No. 26 Rathbone Place
26 Rathbone Place W1T 1JD
Editor's Review
TAP, formerly Tapped and Packed, opened their first café here on Rathbone Place in 2009. They were soon at the forefront of a number of trends in London coffee with a greater focus on filter offerings and serving coffees from a wide range of roasters (‘free house' style). TAP was taken over by Department of Coffee and Social Affairs in 2018, but they run their sites almost as if they were the same venue.
This is a relaxing space very much focussed on the coffee making at the front of the store. No.26 uses different coffees for espresso and milk-based drinks and have always given their customers thorough information on the filter and espresso options available. Teas are from Postcard Teas and sandwiches, salads and soups are made in-house apart from bread from Seven Seeds.
Coffee gear is available to buy, as are beans and home coffee subscriptions. The interior has a rustic feel with extensive use of timber and contemporary lighting. Don’t miss the antique demitasse coffeespoons.
