Brew
75B Banbury Rd, Oxford OX2 6PE, UK
Editor's Review
North Parade is south of South Parade, a relic of nomenclature from the English Civil War. Don't let the illogicality of this scenario deter you from heading there, though – it's a brisk ten minute walk from the centre of town, but a totally different Oxford to the hustle and bustle of the main shopping areas. North Parade is a delightful run of shops, pubs, and eateries, and at the Banbury Road end sits Brew.
Brew is very much a coffee spot – it's no-frills, with little in the way of other enticements – but the quality of the drinks should be a draw in itself. Another feature worth the trip is the stunning Elektra machine, which looks like a steam-punk samovarin burnished bronze. The Elektra cranks out shots, but there are filter options available too, all from the south-west's Round Hill. The baristas are unfussy, knowledgable, and friendly. There are enough to tables to seat a good few groups comfortably and there's a decent retail offering. Whether you're a local or just exploring one of Oxford's cuter corners, you can't go wrong with a trip to Brew.
