The World AeroPress Championships: Beda Haan

Why did you choose to enter the AeroPress Championship?

My colleague, and now mentor, is a former Finnish champion and he encouraged me to enter the championship.

What’s your favourite way to make coffee (other than AeroPress of course!)?

I love the sounds, feel, and the taste of the espresso machine.

What led you to using the AeroPress?

My friend took an AeroPress to a festival and I was impressed by how good the coffee was that you could make at the camp. When I got my own the versatility and playfulness of AeroPress made it my favourite brewing method.

Which grinder will you use for the competition and why?

I’ve been practising with the EK43, so I'll be using the EK43 provided at the championship.

How did you get in to the coffee industry?

By accident. I was asked to work as a kitchen assistant at a café. During a quiet moment, my friend who was barista there taught me some barista basics.

What are you most excited about in coffee?

Besides all the different flavours of coffee, I get excited by how coffee adapts to different surroundings and how people are creating habits and traditions around coffee.
